Frederick Preedy 1820-1898
Offenham is one of the few churches to have both design of architecture and stain glass done by the same man.
Fredreck Preedy was born on 2nd June 1820 in Offenham. His father William Frederick Preedy was Churchwarden for several years, in 1830 when a bell was recast his name was inscribed on the rim.
How Frederick trained as an architect and glass painter is unclear. In 1861 he restored St. Mary & St. Milburgh Offenham, much of the stained glass was designed and painted by him.
He died in obscurity in 1898. It was not until after his death that his work became regarded.
